Treatment Refund Information
Here is some information about how to determine how much of your treatment cost can be reclaimed from your health insurance and as a tax refund, and how to do both.
I used to give the health insurance policy information out directly to patients. However, the insurance companies changed the cover on policies so often, that the information quickly became out-dated and inaccurate.
Thus I decided that it was best to direct patients to the health insurance companies to get the most up-to-date and accurate information.
In addition, your treatment is also eligible for tax refund. This means that if you’re eligible, you can claim back 20% of the treatment cost.
You can claim both from your health insurance and also get a tax refund.
Here’s how it works:
- The standard treatment fee is €40.
- You first claim back from your health insurance.
- Most good policies allow you to claim back 50%.
- Thus you get back €20, but you are still out of pocket by another €20.
- The outstanding amount can then be claimed as a tax refund.
- That amount in this case is €4 (20% of €20).
Your treatment is covered under the category of “Physical Therapy” in your health insurance policy.
